“100 Days, 100 Nights” by Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings

With undeniable presence and rarely seen vocal chops, Sharon Jones was not only atypical of what it means to be a modern-day soul singer, she was a bridge between Motown and current R&B stylings. In concert with Daptone records, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings helped reignite interest in more traditional R&B and soul music, leading to such artists as Charles Bradley, JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound, and more. Jones may have left this Earth at the age of 60 on Friday, but her influence will last forever.
