“Cranes in the Sky” by Solange

Solange’s A Seat at the Table is a mesmerizing listen and is likely to be heavily featured on many year-end lists when it’s all said and done. More serene and introspective than what one would expect from an album dealing with such weighty issues, Solange’s continuing dialogue about identity, specifically blackness, touches on every aspect of that experience in a way that feels more direct and intimate than many others have that tackled similar subjects.
