No. 10 – Benji by Sun Kil Moon
The prolific Mark Kozelek may be making more news recently for his off-stage antics than what he’s done on stage or in studio, but that does not take away from the brilliance he displays on his latest release Benji. Largely a heavy album that deals directly with mortality, Kozelek’s lyrics are sharp and never heavy-handed no matter the severity of the topic. Instead, his conversational tone adds a personal reassurance that isn’t easy to come by given the material.
