No. 21 – Shriek by Wye Oak
After their fantastic debut three years ago (Civilian), Wye Oak changed up their sound quite a bit from the last time around, but actually it’s for the better. Admittedly, as wonderful as Civilian was, there was a definite feeling of “Where do they go from here?” Now, on Shriek, between the more pronounced synthesized sound, and emphasis on Jenn Wasner’s excellent vocals, the duo sounds better than ever.
